Heather Magill, PCD(DONA)
Hi, I’m Heather—mom of three, postpartum doula, and matrescence educator.
When I became a mother, I was surprised by how hard it all felt. I had read the books and gathered the gear, but I still found myself overwhelmed, lonely, and lost in ways I couldn’t have prepared for. I realized that there was so much more to becoming a mother than feedings and diaper changes, and I needed more than advice and instructions. I craved rest, reassurance, and someone who could really see what I was experiencing and help me feel like myself again.
That experience is what led me to this work. For over a decade, I’ve offered postpartum support to families across the Boston and North Shore area, with a focus on overnight care that brings real rest and calm to your home.
But I’ve also seen how the need for support doesn’t end after those early months. The changes, challenges, and growth that come with motherhood are as much about our own development as our children’s. Becoming a mom changes everything- from our closest relationships, to our deepest emotions, to our core understanding of who we are and the role we are called to play in this world. That’s why I created Untangling Motherhood, a small-group experience for moms who want to go deeper: to explore the expectations, pressures, and internal stories that shape how we experience motherhood—and find new ways forward.
Whether I’m supporting you during an overnight shift or guiding you through a group conversation, my goal is simple:
To help you feel more rested, more supported, and more like yourself.
What I Offer
Overnight Postpartum Doula Care
Gentle, experienced support so you can rest, recover, and breathe a little easier. I care for your baby while you sleep, offer lactation and feeding guidance, and create a calm presence in your home during an often intense and chaotic season.
Untangling Motherhood Groups
Six-week small group sessions (on Zoom or in person) for moms who feel like something about motherhood just isn’t adding up. These groups offer a compassionate space to explore your thoughts, shift heavy assumptions, and build sustainable self-care from the inside out.
What I Believe
Motherhood is a major transformation—not just a role or a job, but a whole new identity that deserves care, reflection, and support. I believe that when moms feel heard, rested, and held, families thrive.
