About Heather

Heather Magill, PCD(DONA)

When I gave birth to my first baby, my husband and I were living overseas, far from our family and friends, and we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

As a new mom, I was completely unprepared for the physical and emotional changes that came with giving birth, caring for a newborn, and forging a new identity as a parent, and I had no idea what a difference it would make to have my mom come stay with us for a few weeks after the birth.

I will never forget the difference it made in my own postpartum experience to be supported by a caring, mothering woman during those weeks.

Since that time I have gone on to have two more babies, and have developed a conviction that all women and families deserve caring support in the newborn days.

I became a DONA certified postpartum doula in 2014 as a way to be able bring a sense of calm, confidence, and connection to families all over the North Shore and Boston area.

As your baby adjusts to life outside the womb, and you adjust to life as the parent of a newborn, I provide a helpful, reassuring presence that allows you to build a strong foundation for your new family relationships.

I have a special interest and experience in assisting parents who are growing their families with second or subsequent babies, and support the whole family in any areas that are causing stress or uncertainty, including infant feeding (including breastfeeding, pumping, and/or formula feeding), newborn care, sleep, family relationships, childbirth recovery, postpartum mood disorders (including postpartum depression and anxiety), and self-care/practical support.
